A new report reveals that XBOX has secured exclusive streaming rights for GTA 6, which could make it a timed exclusive for XBOX Cloud Gaming and might be the only way to play the game on PC at launch.
Xbox hosted an internal town hall meeting today, during which the CEO discussed several topics. Asha Sharma highlighted the company’s return to growth, called Project Helix a “family of devices,” and more. Interestingly, during the same meeting, Sharma hinted at a deal for GTA 6, and those details have now come to light.
GTA 6 Could Be Playable on PC at Launch Through XBOX Cloud Gaming
Details on the XBOX and Rockstar deal for GTA 6 streaming rights come from a new report by Tom Warren on The Verge. During an all-hands meeting earlier this morning, XBOX CEO stated that they have something in place with GTA 6 that “no other platform holder is doing”. The deal in question is exclusive game streaming rights for GTA 6 on XBOX Cloud Gaming.
Under the deal, GTA 6 will be available exclusively for cloud gaming on XBOX’s platform, which would also let the company promote the service to PC players as the only way to play the game at launch. However, the details of how long this exclusivity deal will last haven’t been revealed.
