Florida is the perfect setting for Grand Theft Auto 6 and has helped Rockstar Games to create ‘a pressure cooker for all kinds of insanity.’
GTA 6 is undoubtedly the most anticipated game of all time, and the countdown is finally coming to a close, with the big release now just over a month out.
Rockstar Games is bringing the series back to the state of Leonida with the title, their representation of Florida, and detailing how it’s the ideal place to stage the game.
Florida is a ‘Pressure Cooker For All Kinds of Insanity’
Speaking to Love Magazine, as part of a detailed interview published in the October 5 edition of the magazine, Rupert Humphries, Senior Vice President of Narrative, described it as being a ‘pressure cooker’ for the craziness of the story.
“Some would say the American Dream collapsed a long time ago. With GTA 4, we told an immigrant’s story that was supposed to be a kind of hollow commentary on the illusion of America as a land of opportunity, then we sort of doubled down on that with the cynicism of GTA 5.
“Maybe the American Dream is more modest now. It’s a house for your family and your loans paid off instead of wild success, but maybe today, that is just as out of reach for the average person.
“Miami and Southern Florida are a particular front line for this battle between astronomical wealth and unbounded ambition, creating a pressure cooker for all kinds of insanity.”
While Rockstar has brought Florida to life previously in Vice City, GTA 6 is spreading even further with a wider picture of the state, including the Everglades, breaking the region of Leonida into six primary regions.
The map size is said to be ‘twice as big’ as GTA 5, which in turn was significantly larger than Liberty City in GTA 4.
