Excitement for Grand Theft Auto 6 continues to rise ahead of next month’s release, and while the central story crafted by Rockstar Games will, of course, be significant, the smaller details behind the scenes are what make the series iconic.
Ever since the first GTA title, Rockstar has used NPC dialogue and radio stations to weave weird and wonderful tales, and GTA 6 will be no different.
Fresh details have now been shared that show just how deep Rockstar goes into creating the moving world around players, including employing writers who specifically focus on the ‘background noise’ of the franchise.
Rockstar Employs Dedicated Writers For Pedestrians & Radio
Speaking to Love Magazine, as part of a detailed interview published in the October 5 edition of the magazine, Rupert Humphries, Senior Vice President of Narrative, explained Rockstar’s stance on such content.
“We have brought together an amazing team of writers and creatives to make this game and all the ‘background noise’ that makes the city and world come to life,” he said.
“We have a specific team of pedestrian dialogue writers in LA, and then a team of advertising and comedy writers across New York, LA, and London.
“It’s a team from all sorts of backgrounds and walks of life, but we all share a sense of humour and a desire to have a bit of fun with the ridiculousness of humans and the media and advertising.
“And none of us see it as background! It’s all part of the tapestry of the game and creates the experience of living in this wild world.”
It’s clear there’s going to be a lot to digest when players finally get to dive into GTA 6, and the wait is now rapidly approaching a conclusion.
