Behaviour Interactive Is Working on an “Unannounced AAA Sci-Fi FPS With a High Realism Bar”

Behaviour Interactive is currently working on a new unannounced AAA sci-fi FPS with a “high realism bar”.

Unannounced Sci-Fi FPS

Behaviour Interactive is currently hiring a Senior Technical Animator for an unannounced AAA game made in Unreal Engine. The job was posted for the Montreal-based studio at least 2 days ago and gives a few interesting details on what we can expect from the talent behind Dead by Daylight.

It will be a sci-fi FPS title, potentially with realistic graphics, though a “high realism bar” could also refer to the game physics or other mechanics. The studio released Meet Your Maker in 2023, which almost fits the mould, but the game in this job listing appears to be much bigger in scale.

Although Behaviour Interactive is more prominent within the horror games community, mostly thanks to Dead by Daylight, it has developed many games in different genres and of different scales. Still, there’s nothing in Behaviour Interactive’s portfolio of current or upcoming games that matches this description well. As such, we can’t really set a benchmark for what to expect.

The job description explains.

We are looking for a Senior Technical Animator to help us build a AAA sci-fi FPS in Unreal Engine with a high realism bar. In this position, you’ll play a key role in laying the technical foundations of our animation, from the early stages of production to fully integrated in-game characters.

We also got a glimpse of potential characters or enemy types from one of the job requirements that involves “creating and maintaining rigs for bipedal and non-bipedal characters, including mechanical setups.”

The position also desires candidates with the “knowledge of Unreal Control Rig and its real-time system applications for procedural animation systems.” While that doesn’t tell us much about the game itself, it is a small glimpse at the dev tools that could be used.

It should also be noted that Behaviour Interactive frequently partners with publishers like Microsoft, Sony, EA, Warner, Netflix, and Take-Two to co-develop games, which could make this different from what we initially suspect.

We do advise players to keep their expectations in check, as there is no guarantee this project will not suffer the same fate as Project T, which was cancelled in 2024. For now, we can only wait for an official announcement, and that could happen anytime in the future. At the earliest, we would speculate an announcement at The Game Awards 2026 or maybe in a showcase later in 2027.
