PlatinumGames Boss Wants to Expand Bayonetta’s World

The head of PlatinumGames wants to make more games in the Bayonetta series, but he can’t announce anything yet. Recently, SHIFT UP and PlatinumGames collaborated, and a Bayonetta-inspired costume came to Stellar Blade as DLC.

Now, in an interview with representatives from both companies, the head of the studio behind Bayonetta shared a brief update on the franchise’s future that may give fans hope of playing as Bayonetta again.

During a new interview with Famitsu (auto-translated by Chrome), Atsushi Inaba, PlatinumGames President and Studio Head, was asked about the potential for a new Bayonetta release. Inaba laughed through his answer but said he wants to expand the world of Bayonetta and encouraged fans to look forward to the future.

“Uh, I can’t really answer that right now (laughs). I have a strong desire to expand the character of Bayonetta and broaden her world. Please look forward to seeing what form that will take in the future,” he said.

Inaba also spoke about his excitement around the Nintendo Switch 2 platform. He called Nintendo’s latest piece of hardware “a console with tremendous potential,” noting that while it will be difficult to implement some things, he believes it will allow for even more enjoyment for users in the future.

The Bayonetta franchise hasn’t had a release since Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon in 2023. That game and Bayonetta 3, which released a year earlier, were both exclusive to Nintendo platforms.
