Dynasty Warriors Producer Wants to Make Sequels, Not Remasters

Tomohiko Sho says future remasters may happen, but he would rather spend the rest of his career making new games or Dynasty Warriors sequels.

This follows the release of Dynasty Warriors 3 Remastered on Nintendo Switch 2, PC, XBOX Series X|S, and the Sony PlayStation 5. The Koei Tecmo original game was an early release on the Sony PlayStation 2, and this remaster revises it in Unreal Engine 5 while celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Dynasty Warriors Producer: “How Many Games Can I Make?”

In an interview with 4Gamer (auto-translated by Chrome), long-time series producer Tomohiko Sho was asked about the possibility of future remasters in the Dynasty Warriors franchise. He admitted that there could be future remasters if the recently released game performs well.

However, he doesn’t want to be responsible for producing those remasters, as he is more concerned about what kind of new games or sequels he can create before he retires.

“I can’t say anything at the moment, and I haven’t even thought about it, but it’s not impossible that we’ll remaster titles that aren’t available on Steam, he said.

“However, to be honest, I don’t want to do it. It would be almost a complete remake, and even this time I sometimes thought, ‘Why am I remaking something I made myself?’ (laughs). I’m in my 50s now, and I sometimes think about ‘how many more games can I make before I retire,’ so I’d rather make new games or sequels.”

Still, because he wants to respect the audience that has supported the series and wants these remasters, he is considering having others on the team take on the next remaster project.

What do you think of his comments? Would you like to see a new game in the Dynasty Warriors franchise, or would you prefer another remaster? Sound off about this story and all others in our official Discord server.
