RuneScape: Dragonwilds roadmap confirms December’s Luminance update, the 2027 Blood Crystal Saga, modding, secure servers, and leaderboards.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds will receive the Luminance update in December 2026, followed in 2027 by the two-part Blood Crystal Saga, which adds Hunter, official modding, secure servers, leaderboards, and more free updates.
This news comes from RuneFest 2026. Dragonwild is the latest expansion of the RuneScape universe. The game is an open-world survival RPG launched in September and is playable on all major consoles and PC. In a new blog post, Jagex detailed its roadmap, starting with Luminance, a free update coming in December.
What Is Next for RuneScape Dragonwilds? Full 2027 Roadmap
A blog post on the official Dragonwilds website details upcoming game updates. Jagex has confirmed that Luminance will be released in December and is a direct Prelude to the Blood Crystal Saga, which will begin in 2027. Luminance will feature the task of protecting Ceridwen and her child, two elves on the run from the bounty hunter Morwyn.
Images also show what the characters you are protecting will look like. In addition to music elements, you can customize your character with new aesthetic options. This update will also introduce the Hunter skill.
Hunt being the important word. The next skill coming to RuneScape: Dragonwilds will be the Hunter Skill. This is the first of several new skills coming next year.
Players will learn how to sneak, trap, and collect a variety of unsuspecting creatures with the Hunter skill. And those players will need some pretty cool elven equipment to make it possible.
The 2027 updates will include new side quests, weapons, decorations, and more. Official modding is also slated for 2027. Jagex states that dedicated creation tools and an in-game mod browser and installer are coming to all platforms. This update is expected in the first half of 2027, along with secure servers and leaderboards.
