Footage from a Jak and Dak Remaster pitch has been revealed, and it does look very good.
Jak and Daxter is a highly popular video game franchise created by Naughty Dog. However, fans of the series have not seen a new game since 2009, when ‘Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier’ was released for the PS2, PSP, and PS Vita. While we did receive a remastered version through the ‘Jak and Daxter Collection’ for PS4, there was another remaster pitched for the series.
Jak and Daxter Remaster Pitch Footage Looked Really Promising
Thanks to a LinkedIn post (via eco_mmunity) by Travis Howe, a senior animator at Sanzaru, fans have had the opportunity to view footage from the Jak and Daxter remaster pitch. For this pitch, the developers created an animated in-game cutscene shot-for-shot to demonstrate what the updated version would look like.
This included highly detailed enhancements to Jak and Daxter’s character models as well as improvements to the in-game environment, making it more suitable for current-generation systems.
Howe clarified that the pitch was “not commissioned by Sony” and that the company had no involvement in the proposal. It was simply a “fan pitch to try to gain their permission.”
The senior animator also confirmed that a Jak and Daxter remaster “wasn’t to be”; however, he encouraged fans who still want a remake to speak up and make their voices heard. Interested readers can check out the pitch footage below:
In other news, Fallout 3 Remastered is back in the conversation after it was mentioned again in a new toy listing. Additionally, a new claim states Resident Evil Code Veronica remake is being directed by the same team that helmed the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes.
