It appears that the Street Fighter movie has reportedly secured some notable actors to portray Chun-Li and Balrog in the upcoming adaptation, with the names Callina Liang and 50 Cent being thrown around.
Street Fighter is one of the biggest names in the 2D fighting genre, with the latest game in the series recently crossing 5 million copies sold. It is an iconic franchise that resonates with many gamers, and these fans will be happy to know that Capcom and Legendary Entertainment are in the process of creating a live-action adaptation. Latest reports reveal that the movie has lined up its actors for the roles of Chun-Li and Balrog.
50 Cent Could Be Playing Balrog in the Street Fighter Movie
A report from NexusPointNews reveals that the popular hip-hop artist Curtis Jackson, also known as 50 Cent, is already in talks to play Balrog, the boxer introduced in Street Fighter 2. 50 Cent has added more fuel to the fire by reposting this report to his Instagram, with the caption “No Days off, Let’s work all roads lead to Shreveport, Boom”.
Callina Liang to Play Chun-Li in Street Fighter Movie
Next up is Chun-Li, who, according to a report by Deadline, will be played by the Presence actress, Callina Liang. Chun-Li is easily one of the most iconic characters from the Street Fighter franchise, being a playable character in almost every title and a significant part of the franchise’s crossovers. Legendary Entertainment has declined to comment on the casting, and the studio has also remained tight-lipped about the plot of the upcoming Street Fighter movie.
Moreover, several other cast members have been confirmed, with names like Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns, and Orville Peck joining the ensemble. The movie will be directed by Kitao Sakurai, known for Bad Trip.
