A new Sony AI patent has surfaced online, and it describes how players will be able to buy and sell agents that replicate other players’ gaming styles.
This is not the first Sony AI patent to surface online recently. Earlier this year, we saw the company acquire a new patent for ‘Ghost Player’ AI technology, which can play the game for you. However, the latest one takes everything one step further, as you will be able to buy otherplayers’s playing habits as well.
Sony’s New AI Agent Lets You Buy and Sell ‘Gaming Profiles’
Discovered by CheatHappens, a new Sony AI patent has appeared online; it was filed in 2022 but published last month. If you move to the description of this patent, that’s where all the meat lies. The first part describes an AI character that can progress through a game “on behalf of a user”. The AI character will be trained on the user’s playstyle and will be able to simulate. Moreover, the AI character can play games ” in a multiplayer gaming session,” and “the presence of the user is maintained.”
The description adds that there is “a method of training a machine learning model to imitate a user’s gameplay using gameplay data generated when a user plays a video game.” So once the user learns the playstyle, it could perform the more menial tasks for the player that involve grinding, while the player will be able to focus on the more exciting elements of the game.
These AI bots will not only be able to replicate the user’s gameplay but also their friends’ gameplay. Moreover, the Sony patent discusses the possibility of monetizing data from famous and professional players so that your AI agent can perform exactly like them. But wouldn’t this take all the fun out of gaming?
