Slay the Spire 2 recently released its first big balance pass patch. The optional patch also came with a new Phobia Mode, making small changes to some of the creepier adversaries.
Overall, the new beta patch was panned, with thousands of negative reviews. Some even said the changes ruined their run completely. Now, Mega Crit is responding to the backlash.
Mega Crit Discusses Slay the Spire 2 Early Access Patch Philosophy
On social media, Mega Crit issued a long statement addressing player concerns. Notably, they say they make changes based on player feedback, data-driven decisions, and their own design philosophies. They stressed that players testing Slay the Spire 2 in this early phase are vital to the 1.0 release and that this is one of many changes that will occur over the next couple of years.
“The beta branch will see the most experimental changes and will be tweaked each time until we feel it’s stable enough for the main branch. Participating in that process is optional but very helpful. Thank you for your patience as we slowly mold StS2 into its final shape,” the developer said in the last quarter of the social media statement.
Slay the Spire 2 is still a massive success, even in its Early Access stage. Currently, there are over 300,000 concurrent players. The peak concurrent player count reached 574,638 players playing the deck builder simultaneously.
Insider Gaming will continue to bring the latest news regarding the development of Slay the Spire 2.
