The title for the upcoming live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda has finally been revealed at the latest 40th Anniversary Nintendo Direct event.
In November 2023, Nintendo announced that fans would get a live-action adaptation of its highly popular franchise, The Legend of Zelda. Since that announcement, we have received little information, aside from a photo of Zelda and Link, an earlier release date, and the cast and crew.
The Legend of Zelda Movie has No Subtitle
As revealed during the Nintendo Direct event, The Legend of Zelda live action adaptation is called ‘The Legend of Zelda’, fans will understand why it doesn’t have a subtitle when they see the film. It will feature an original story, inspired by the stories, ideas and concepts used in the games across the past 40 years. More details about the movie will be revealed at a later date.
The Legend of Zelda movie adaptation is set to release theatrically on April 30, 2027, and will move to Netflix after its theatrical run. Wes Ball, known for his work on the Maze Runner trilogy and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, is directing the movie. Link will be played Benjamin Evan Ainsworth from Haunting of Bly Manor and Princess Zelda will be portaryed by Bo Bragasan from Three Girls, Sterling Point and more.

We also have Uli Latukefu from Black Adam, Alien: Covenant, and more playing the antagonist, Ganondorf, along with Dichen Lachman from Severance playing Impa, the advisor to Princess Zelda, along with many other talented cast members. Filming has wrapped in New Zealand.
