Saros Debuts Gameplay in New State of Play Trailer

Saros, created by Returnal’s Housemarque, debuted its intense gameplay in a new trailer during a new State of Play.

Revealed during February’s State of Play, Saros retains the gameplay style of 2021’s Returnal by having players restart their run after dying. The sci-fi aesthetic and lone wolf protagonist, this time played by iZombie’s Rahul Kholi, are still present. We didn’t get to see gameplay last time we saw Saros, but now, thanks to the State of Play, we have some footage and a March release date.

Bullet Hell is Back in the First Look at Saros’ Gameplay

In the trailer above, shown at PlayStation’s State of Play, we get our first peek at gameplay. We see the protagonist make their way through a desolate alien world. We get to see some crazy bullet-hell sequences and shooting. It looks to be rather fast in the combat, much like Returnal was. We also get a bit of story, as it seems the character is looking for someone and is determined to make it through, no matter how many times they die. We also have a confirmed release date: March 20th, 2026

Despite not being connected to Returnal, it does feel quite like it. Fortunately, that isn’t a bad thing, as the 2021 shooter was one of the best games of that year. Saros is the first title for Housemarque as a PlayStation first-party studio, and, as we can see, it’s going to be quite the spectacle.

Are you excited for Saros? What did you think of the gameplay? Let us know in the comments below and on the forums!
