Rocket League‘s new era, powered by Unreal Engine 6, will launch in 2027. Fans got a new look at the game’s next chapter on the final day of the 2026 RLCS World Championship.
Rocket League, a game built on Unreal Engine 3, is moving to Unreal Engine 6. Psyonix announced this transition in May and has since confirmed that professional Rocket League players are actively involved in testing the game’s next era.
Rocket League’s UE6 Era Is Coming in 2027

A video package during the final day of the Rocket League Championship Series World Championship revealed that professional players such as JSTN and GARRETTG have been testing the next era of the esport.
It’s also been confirmed that in the coming months, they will continue to be invited to test and help retool the game. According to the trailer, these professional Rocket League players are helping to rebuild the game from the ground up.
By the time Psyonix released Rocket League in 2015, Unreal Engine 4 had been available for a year. In 2022, Epic Games released Unreal Engine 5. Now, four years later, Rocket League is poised to lead the next generation of game development with Unreal Engine.
While many questions remain about the next iteration of Unreal Engine, Epic has admitted that AI will play a big role in the technology. Insider Gaming will continue to monitor the story and report any updates as more information becomes available.
