Rocket League Season 24 is taking the game underground with a complete overhaul of how players compete, customize, and flex their in-game abilities. It kicks off (goes full throttle?) on September 23, offering a new season that leans into speed and style, with a roadmap that’s built on some seriously ambitious new features.
The headline addition is centered around the Honor Duel system, a new 1v1 showdown mechanic that invites players to settle grudges immediately after a regular match. The long-awaited Black Market Trade-In feature is also being implemented after many years of players asking for it.
It’s a great time to be a Rocket League fan.
Rocket League’s Season 24 Update is Coming Soon
Epic Games has unveiled everything coming to Rocket League in the upcoming Season 24 update, which arrives in just a few days.
The beating heart of the season is the introduction of Honor Duel, a system that allows players to call out their opponents after a match has finished, challenging them to an intense showdown while the rest of the lobby spectates. It’s arguably the most competitive mode in Rocket League alongside Ranked.
In Season 24, players will also get access to the Black Market Trade-In platform, allowing them to exchange duplicate Black Market items for a brand-new one or a painted variant that they’re yet to collect. This means that those with a hefty inventory of collected cosmetics can finally do something about their stock.
In terms of presentation, the MVP Focused Podium has been implemented, designed to spotlight the match MVP by firing their goal explosion behind the team during the end-of-match celebration. There are also some custom scoreboard mechanics coming into the game, all of which serve to better recognize and detail the more talented players out there.
Additionally, control systems have been overhauled, especially for mouse-and-keyboard players. There’s a new free-look camera mechanic, and keybinds have undergone something of an evolution.
If that wasn’t enough, Season 24 will launch with three Limited Time Events, two of which will commence on day one, on September 23.
The first is called Run It Up, and it features a whopping fourteen challenges and the new Nova Collection. Then there’s Bullet Ball, a demolition-focused arena survival mode that challenges players to use a homing ball to their advantage to stay alive as players are whittled down.
On September 25, a Persona 5 crossover event lands in Rocket League.
To cap it all off, there’s a new Rocket Rivalry event coming in, fresh community spotlights, a new Rocket Pass with more cars and cosmetics, and creator drops lined up. It’s one hell of a season.
