The director and producer of Resident Evil Requiem have recently discussed leaks about the game.
Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem has been receiving new leaks almost every week. One of the longest-running ones that is yet to be confirmed is Leon Kennedy being one of the playable characters in the upcoming title. Interestingly, the developers of RE9 recently spoke about leaks, explaining how they can be disruptive at times but can also be a positive thing.
Resident Evil Requiem Devs Say We Have Enough Fake Leaks Already
During a new interview with VGC, Resident Evil Requiem’s director, Koshi Nakanishi, and producer, Masato Kumazawa, spoke at length about the game’s leaks. Nakanishi first spoke about treating leaks as a “positive thing,” as it shows interest from the fans about things that are yet to be revealed. Moreover, the discussion and speculation that follows showcases the “huge amount of interest and passion” the fans have for the series.
However, Nakanishi explains, not all leaks are accurate, as they can be completely wrong, could be on the right track, or even on the wrong track. Moreover, they don’t know if the leaks are disrupting the game until it’s released. When asked about the development team releasing fake leaks themselves, Nakanishi said they don’t need to provide fake leaks for Resident Evil Requiem, as “we’ve got enough already.”
Leaks Shouldn’t Be Taken as ‘Gospel’
Kumazawa chimed in as well, stating that he doesn’t mind information appearing online as a leak, whether it is true or not. The issue arises when players treat these leaks as gospel, assuming the information is true even though it hasn’t been confirmed. So, when the developers release the game and it doesn’t include the leaked details, players might perceive it as a “betrayal,” even though it was never promised. This is what Kumazawa finds most disruptive about leaks.
In other news, the director of the Resident Evil movie has confirmed that it will not feature Leon Kennedy. Additionally, Resident Evil Requiem’s new horror system is designed to “play around with your emotions.” What are your thoughts on Resident Evil Requiem’s leaks?
