An insider has claimed that pre-production for Resident Evil 1 Remake began last year.
At the moment, in addition to the mainline titles, Capcom is working on several Resident Evil remakes, with Code Veronica already confirmed. Leaks and rumors indicate that remakes of Resident Evil 1 and Resident Evil 0 are also in development. Recently, new details about the Resident Evil 1 remake have come to light.
Resident Evil 1 Remake Pre-Production Began In August-September 2025
In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), insider Dusk Golem revealed that the pre-production for the Resident Evil 1 Remake began “nearly a year ago.” According to his information, this pre-production started around August or September 2025, with plans to enter full production once work on Resident Evil Veronica is completed. A few months ago, the insider had mentioned that the Resident Evil 1 Remake was in development, but it was said to be years away at that time.

Dusk Golem revealed that full production for the Resident Evil Zero Remake began in 2022. He also noted that full production for the Resident Evil 1 Remake has not yet started. In his post, Golem discussed the development status of the Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake, stating that it is currently in its crunch period. However, he added that the game is “super ahead of schedule” compared to its original plan.
Players should take this information with a grain of salt, as Capcom has yet to officially confirm even the existence of a Resident Evil 1 Remake.
