The Pokémon Company has shared a mysterious video on Ruby and Sapphire, sparking hope of an imminent announcement regarding Switch ports for the titles.
Pokémon released Switch ports for Fire Red and Leaf Green earlier this year, with fans hoping that more generations will follow suit, and there have been some vague posts on social media sparking speculation.
The latest of these was shared on a Japanese X account, showing mysterious footage from Ruby and Sapphire.
Pokémon Sparks Hope of Ruby & Sapphire Ports
The Poké Times account on X shared a video showcasing a clip from Ruby and Sapphire, but eagle-eyed fans noticed that it doesn’t seem to be from the original source.
The 30-second video is the same length as a standard capture on Switch, and the graphics look to be enhanced compared to the original Game Boy Advance title.
While this is far from confirmation of a new release of a port for the third generation of the Pokémon franchise, many are hoping that it will be the case, particularly as the company doesn’t have a major release lined-up for the end of the year.
Though 2026 has seen the aforementioned Fire Red and Leaf Green ports, alongside DLC for Legends: Z-A and the release of Pokémon Pokopia, it would be strange if there wasn’t a major launch in the holiday season in the 30th anniversary year.
Interestingly enough, the footage from Ruby and Sapphire is not the only piece of vague posting that Pokémon has published recently, with previous teases referencing Gold and Silver.
It remains to be seen if there’s any news to come from Pokémon regarding these mysterious teases, but more news is surely right around the corner from The Pokémon Company given the slate of releases is currently clear aside from Pokopia DLC and Wind and Waves next year.
