Sony has announced that the PlayStation Plus price will be increasing on May 20 for new customers in select regions.
PlayStation Plus is Sony’s subscription service for its console players. Through the service, players not only receive a collection of games every month but also discounts, online multiplayer, and several other features. Starting this month, some users will have to pay slightly more than usual.
PlayStation Plus Price Increase Coming on May 20
A new post on X (formerly Twitter) by the official PlayStation account confirms the price increase for the subscription service. The price increase will take effect from May 20, and the console maker has cited “ongoing market conditions” as the reason for the increase. Check out the new starting prices for PS Plus that new customers in select regions will have to pay below:
- 1 Month Subscriptions: $10.99 USD / €9.99 EUR / £7.99 GBP
- 3 Month Subscription: $27.99 USD / €27.99 EUR / £21.99 GBP
Sony has stated that these prices do not apply to current subscribers unless your subscription is changed or ends. However, this doesn’t apply to users in Turkey and India.
PlayStation Plus has been bringing players some great titles throughout May 2026. This month’s games already include one of the biggest sports games out there, EA Sports FC 26. They doubled down with the Game Catalog titles, introducing games like Star Wars Outlaws, Red Dead Redemption 2, and much more. With the price increase, players will be hoping to keep receiving more stacked lineups each month, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
In other news, Sony’s latest earnings report shows the PS5 is on track to hit 100 million units sold very soon. What are your thoughts on the PlayStation Plus price increase? Leave your thoughts down in the comments, and join the official Insider Gaming Discord server.

I cancelled mine about a month ago after having renewed it for almost 10 years in a row. The climate for gaming has changed and we do not need to spend money on PS plus anymore. I’ve found it’s more financially smart to purchase one or two games that go on sale because I don’t play over 90% of the games that come in PS plus anyhow. In fact, I’m now really looking into becoming just a PC gamer because of how things are going. I should not feel forced to renew a subscription just to enjoy games. This isn’t a problem on PC (yet).
