The latest United States (US) video game hardware sales data for November 2025 has revealed that PlayStation 5 was the best-selling hardware, surpassing the Nintendo Switch 2.
The latest video game sales data comes from Circana, which states that monthly hardware spending has fallen 27% year over year to $695 million. This makes November 2025 the worst month for hardware spending since the $455 million in November 2005.
PlayStation 5 Overtakes Nintendo Switch 2 in Hardware Sales for November 2025
Coming to the actual units, 1.6 million video game hardware units were sold across all platforms in the US, the lowest for a November since 1995, when 1.4 million units were sold. Surprisingly, the PlayStation 5 was the best-selling hardware in both units and dollars, and this is the first time it has topped the charts since the Nintendo Switch 2 was released. Nintendo’s latest console came in second for both units and dollars.
The third-best-selling console for November 2025 was split between NEX Playground and the Xbox Series consoles. NEX Playground ranked third in units sold this month, whereas Xbox Series ranked third in dollars. NEX Playground coming in third is not a big surprise, considering it toppled the PS5 Slim Digital Sales in the United States midway through November.
In other news, Battlefield 6 is 2025’s best-selling game in the United States, year-to-date. Additionally, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was the US’s best-selling game of November 2025. If they weren’t jacking up the prices I’d consider saving up to get one. Being on a tight budget with fixed income doesn’t give me hope anytime soon if at all. If sony wants to start a selective market this would be the way to start. Games are barely affordable.
