Grand Theft Auto 6 is the most sought-after, must-have game of 2026. Even now, we’re seeing people asking and searching how to buy GTA 6 and which devices you can play it on—hence, this guide.
Rockstar’s GTA 6 is nearly here, and a million questions have been asked at this point. Some of them concern Grand Theft Auto 6’s release platforms, so let’s quickly get into this now, and you can start planning how to play the biggest video game ever.
Is GTA 6 on PS5?

Grand Theft Auto 6 releases on PlayStation 5 from day one on November 19.
The one platform there was never much doubt about was PS5. Once the game’s marketing started ramping up around mid-2026, one of the most shocking reveals was how heavily Sony PlayStation and Rockstar were pushing that partnership.

Sony claims that GTA 6 plays ‘Best on PS5,’ and there are a few GTA 6 PlayStation-exclusive features on both PS5 and PS5 Pro.
Is GTA 6 on XBOX?
GTA 6 is also coming to XBOX Series X|S.
PlayStation is clearly favored by Rockstar Games, but it doesn’t mean XBOX misses out on GTA 6. If you are an XBOX owner, you can buy GTA 6 either physically or digitally. Just watch out for the game’s astronomical download size.
Is GTA 6 on PC?
You won’t be able to buy GTA 6 on PC at launch, but the game will be coming to PC later on.
I understand this is a bit of a sore point for many, so we’ll navigate this volatile minefield carefully. Like GTA 5, the sixth mainline game faces a delay before arriving on PC. GTA 5 arrived nearly two years later, but it doesn’t appear to be the case this time.

A highly regarded analyst has said GTA 6 is coming to PC in “6 or 7 Months,” or between April 2027 and June 2027. This would support the rumor that the PC release is scheduled for Q1 2027, even if it’s a bit later.
Is GTA 6 on Nintendo Switch?
Unfortunately, Grand Theft Auto isn’t coming to the Nintendo Switch or Switch 2.
We all know how much more powerful the Switch 2 is than the OG. I think we can safely say that it has next-to-no chance, however, of ever featuring GTA 6, though, as it’s already pushing PlayStation and XBOX consoles as it is.
