PGL Astana 2026 Predictions
With Vitality absent, the top teams have a rare chance to win a Tier 1 trophy. We have seen the transformative effects of such a victory on NAVI, who took their Pro League victory and have clearly asserted themselves as the number 2 teams since.
In terms of form, Spirit seems the best-placed to take the trophy, following a Grand Final run at IEM Rio where they ramped up throughout the tournament to demolish Falcons in the semi-finals.
Naturally, Vitality were in their way then, but will not be this time, so if they can continue their growth from Rio, they are in a strong position to retain their PGL Astana title after their Astana 2025 victory.
Spirit are still without their coach, Sergey ‘hally’ Shavaev, but that didn’t seem to hinder them at IEM Rio. If anything, it seemed to allow for more expressive and dynamic T-sides in particular, a sore spot for the roster.

Elsewhere, all eyes will be on Finn ‘karrigan’ Andersen as he makes his debut for Falcons against Russian roster, K27. The Dane makes his first start for Falcons since departing FaZe. After FaZe’s relatively positive showing at BLAST Rivals Fort Worth, he will be keen to make the most of Falcons honeymoon period.
karrigan has consistently done well in the early weeks and months of new rosters, making them a potential contender at Astana, before they eye their main prize of the IEM Cologne 2026 Major.
Elsewhere, it is hard to tell exactly what form other contenders will be in. FURIA’s 2026 has been unspectacular to say the least, with star AWPer Danil ‘molodoy’ Golubenko seemingly regressing after Gabriel ‘FalleN’ Toledo’s retirement announcement.
However, the Kazakhstani is playing in his home country, potentially adding extra motivation. The same is, of course, true for BLAST Bounty Season 1 champions, Parivision, whose coach Dastan Aqbaev expressed strong motivation to do well at the result during the PGL Bucharest broadcast.
G2, The MongolZ, and Aurora could also be contenders, but MOUZ will most likely not be after their sudden roster changes. Adrian ‘xelex’ Vincze makes his Tier 1 debut, with PGL Copenhagen 2024 Major MVP Justinas Lekavicius standing in for the roster after the removal of Jimi ‘Jimpphat’ Salo and Ludvig ‘Brollan’ Brolin from the active roster.
This event, and the CS Asia Championships 2026, will act as a testing ground for jL, xelex, and for Dorian ‘xertioN’ Berman’s credentials as a potential IGL for the roster moving forward.
With that many moving pieces up in the air, MOUZ’s chances of winning the event seem low, but the roster at least has some clutch arena clutch factor now with jL as a stand-in.
Prediction: Team Spirit
