FalleN Is Retiring This Year After A Legendary 20+ Year CS Career

One of the most decorated Counter-Strike players of all time, Gabriel ‘FalleN’ Toledo, has announced he will retire at the end of 2026.

The Brazilian tearily announced on the Intel Extreme Masters Rio stage that he will step down from competing after a 23-year esports career.

Starting in 2003, FalleN’s tenured career saw him compete in Counter-Strike 1.6, CrossFire, CS:GO, and CS2 and win two majors — MLG Major Championship: Columbus 2016 and ESL One: Cologne 2016, both with SK Gaming.

Now, there are only 247 days left of his legendary career.

FalleN Announces Retirement

FalleN has at least promised to stay in the competitive CS scene, stating: “I’ve decided that at the end of the year, I’m going to do other things within CS with you all.”

“I’m here to invite you to join me on this journey for another 247 days. We still have a lot to accomplish together, and afterwards, I will have the opportunity to do many other things with you, outside the server, but with Counter-Strike in my heart.”

Now FalleN will look to add another trophy to his collection before hanging up his mouse, as FURIA compete in front of a home crowd against Team Vitality in the IEM Rio semifinals tomorrow, April 18.

FalleN admitted that winning the title in Brazil would be a dream, but he feels fortunate no matter the result:

“I know it’s possible, but what life has taught me is that, regardless of whether we win or lose, there comes a time in life when we look back and it’s not just about victory, it’s about the journey.

“Getting here for me was amazing, and just to be here with you tomorrow is going to be even more amazing…

“Just being here and having a tournament in Brazil so many years later with so many people here is already a big result for us.”

FalleN’s Impact on Brazilian CS

FalleN helped turn Brazil into a global force in competitive CS.

He is often referred to as “The Professor” and “The Godfather of Brazilian CS” for all the work he did educating Brazilian players and elevating the game in the region.

Through the Games Academy initiative he launched in 2012 with online tutorials for CS:GO, FalleN essentially helped keep the Brazilian CS scene alive and it has thrived since.

It is without a doubt, FalleN will retire as one of the most influential CS players of all time.
