Paramount Skydance has just revealed a brand-new division, called Paramount Games Studio, and players will see its first reveal today.
A report by Variety confirms the creation of Paramount Games Studio, an amalgamation of its existing game studios, Skydance Interactive, and Skydance New Media. The report also confirms that the announcement of their first AAA title will come later tonight at Summer Game Fest 2026. Players have been informed that the development of Skydance New Media’s untitled Star Wars game and Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra remains unchanged after the formation of the new studio.
Tony Discroll has been appointed as the president of Paramount Games Studio. He will be joined by Skydance veterans, including Dan Prigg, who will serve as executive vice president and head of games for Paramount, and Shawn Kittelsen, who will serve as senior vice president, head of creative & production. Additionally, there have been changes in the leadership of Skydance New Media: one co-president, Amy Hennig, will remain with the studio as creative director, while the other co-president, Julian Beak, has left the company.
Here’s Tony Discroll’s statement on the formation of Paramount Games Studio:
“This division launch marks a meaningful evolution in how we think about games – not as an extension of our business, but as a core pillar of our content strategy alongside film, television, and streaming.
We are committed to creating exceptional games for every type of player, from casual to AAA, and building enduring experiences across our beloved Paramount IP and original worlds that deepen fan engagement and drive long-term growth.”
In other news, Paramount+ and HBO Max will merge into a single service if the Skydance acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery is approved. What are your thoughts on the formation of Paramount Games Studio? Leave your thoughts down in the comments, and join the official Insider Gaming Discord server.
