The news gamers have been anticipating, but what nobody wanted to see confirmed, has officially been announced, with prices for the Nintendo Switch 2 due to increase.
Launched last year, the Switch 2 has been a success for Nintendo, with the latest earnings report stating there are close to 20 million consoles sold, but the rising costs and shortages in the market for core components were something the company could not ignore, and price rises have now been announced.
For all the details on when the price rises and by how much, Insider Gaming has everything you need to know.
When Do Nintendo Switch 2 Prices Increase?

Nintendo Switch 2 prices in the United States, Canada, and Europe will be increased from September 1, 2026, as confirmed by Nintendo, while prices in Japan will rise on May 25.
Rumors of a price rise have been circling for a while, particularly amid global chip shortages and rising costs of building the consoles, and Nintendo has followed suit from other console creators, like Sony, in raising the prices of Nintendo Switch 2.

However, the changes, announced on May 8, will not come into effect immediately for the majority of regions. Instead, the price rises will occur from September 1, 2026. Japan is the exception for this, with those changes coming into effect later this month.
That means there is still time to secure a Nintendo Switch 2 console before the price rise comes into effect, which will save you a decent chunk of change.
