Nintendo expects the Switch 2 to sell out at launch, as some retailers may have already received ‘Out of Stock’ signs for the upcoming console.
Nintendo Sends ‘Out of Stock’ Signs for the Switch 2
Spotted by VGC, a post on the r/NintendoSwitch2 subreddit tells us Nintendo is anticipating retailers to sell out their Switch 2 units at launch. The post features an ‘Out of Stock’ sign that Nintendo has created specially for the Switch 2. The sign comes with the Switch 2 logo, along with the key art for the console pasted across a huge red board, with the words ‘Out of Stock’.
This move by Nintendo could be beneficial, as the ‘Out of Stock’ signs will signal the high demand for the Switch 2, while also keeping the console visible even after it has sold out. Although there were reports suggesting that most stores would have ample stock available for launch, Nintendo appears confident that it will quickly sell those units. Some analysts predict that the Switch 2 could sell over 20 million units within its first year.
Talking about Switch 2 stock, a recent report stated that Nintendo was providing wholesale prices to Japanese retailers for better domestic placement. However, Nintendo has refuted this claim. Also, the console is already in the hands of some people, with the start-up screen leaking ahead of launch.
