Nintendo Adds Five Virtual Boy Games to Switch Online Today

Nintendo has announced a new lineup of five Virtual Boy games coming to Nintendo Switch Online in the month of May 2026. These games will be available to subscribers of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. They can be played on both the Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

To access the games, players need to have one of two available accessories: the $100 Virtual Boy accessory for the Switch family of consoles or a $25 cardboard model. Additionally, an active Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use the necessary accessory. With the more expensive Virtual Boy accessory, players will be able to swap out lenses to change the colors of the games later this year.

Nintendo Switch Online Virtual Boy Game Additions for May 2026

The games were revealed in a trailer on May 13. The first game shown off was Jack Bros., a 1995 title from Atlus. Atlus today is best known for making the Persona video games. Also shown was V-Tetrus, a Virtual Boy take on the Nintendo Game Boy classic. Additionally, Space Invaders is also represented with the Space Invaders Virtual Collection. Vertical Force, a shoot-’em-up space game, was another title shown. Lastly, they revealed Virtual Bowling, which is exactly what it sounds like. All of these games are available as of today, May 14.

With the release of these five titles, two more games are set to join the service later this year: D-Hopper, short for Dragon Hopper, and Zero Racers. Both of these games were originally unreleased during the Nintendo Virtual Boy’s run in 1996. Zero Racers is intended to be a spin-off of the popular F-Zero series, featuring Captain Falcon. Dragon Hopper is also making its debut as part of the service, after being canceled before its intended release.
