Images of the new disc box art for Xbox consoles have surfaced online, with grey labels spotted on the boxes.
Since the arrival of the new CEO, we have been seeing ongoing changes to the Xbox brand. We have already seen the CEO bring a brand new logo and a boot-up sound to the table. Now, it seems they will be moving toward a brand-new style for their box art, which some players aren’t happy about.
New Xbox Box Art Spotted for Fortnite, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, and More Games
A new post on X (formerly Twitter) by Idle Sloth reveals the Xbox box art images that have appeared online, featuring games such as Alien Rogue Incursion, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, and Fortnite. The highlight of this new box art is the grey labels at the bottom of the game posters, which read “Game Disc” and “Requires Internet”. The Black Flag Resynced cover mentions that the internet is required to download content multiple times.
The grey bar appears to extend from the side of the disc box, where the game name is printed. Many players in the comment section have expressed their disappointment with this new design, raising concerns about the additional clutter near the art. There’s also an image of Beyond Good & Evil’s 20th Anniversary Edition disc, and the previous version looks much cleaner without the new grey labels. It is worth noting that Xbox has yet to confirm the new design officially, so take this information with a grain of salt.
In other news, there was no new information revealed about Project Helix at Xbox’s Game Dev Update event. Additionally, the company is no longer developing Co-Pilot for consoles.
