XBOX CEO Asha Sharma says more than 300,000 people play Minecraft for the first time on an average day, despite its 17-year history.
Asha Sharma announced this staggering statistic in a social media post reflecting on the recent Minecraft LIVE event.
Minecraft’s New Player Growth Is Still Massive

In addition to the fact that over 300,000 players try Minecraft for the first time every day, Sharma also noted that over 425 million copies of the game have been sold over the 17 years since Minecraft first launched.
By now, generations have grown up playing Minecraft. In truth, it’s one of the most accessible video games ever. Minecraft’s Java Edition is playable on Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms. The Bedrock Edition also supports Windows and Chromebook devices.
It’s playable on XBOX One and XBOX Series platforms. It’s also playable on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Nintendo platforms that can handle the game include the original Switch, the Switch Lite, and the Nintendo Switch OLED. A dedicated version of the game is also available on the Nintendo Switch 2. The game is also playable on iOS, Android, and Amazon Fire devices.
In addition to the base game, Mojang has released several spin-offs. Minecraft Stories and Minecraft Dungeons expand what the world of Minecraft can offer players. Minecraft Dungeons 2 is slated to release on September 29,
