Mojang has just made a seriously sweet announcement that has taken the Minecraft world by storm. Next year, for the first time in more than 14 years, Minecraft is getting a new dimension in the Java and Bedrock versions of the game. It’s called The Sift, which was kind of already revealed as coming in Minecraft Dungeons 2.
The Sift joins the likes of the Overworld, the Nether, and The End, all of which have been in Minecraft for many years. For now, a lot about The Sift is a mystery, but it just goes to show that Mojang is far from done with expanding the world of Minecraft.
Minecraft Updates Are Running Wild
The Sift will be seen first in Minecraft Dungeons 2, which is preparing to hit the market on September 29, but next year, it’ll also land in the base game – on Java and Bedrock.
This is the first new dimension to hit Minecraft since 2011, when The End was introduced. It seems insane that it has been that long since we’ve had a new dimension, but there we go – it’s coming.
It’s said to be a totally fresh environment that promises to introduce new biomes, mobs, and ways to play and explore the game.
Unfortunately, Mojang is keeping The Sift close to its chest for now, so there’s not a hell of a lot we can say. All we know is that it’s coming at some point in 2027, and that it’s likely it’ll be up for testing before it goes public.
