To celebrate the 25th anniversary of XBOX, McDonald’s has launched a partnership with the gaming titan to promote various games via exclusive unlocks or universe-themed goodies. The likes of Halo, Forza Horizon 6, World of Warcraft, and Fallout 76 are all part of this promotion, amongst others, but some are going more in-depth than others.
For instance, Fallout 76 will have at least one menu item available at McDonald’s restaurants in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The full spread hasn’t yet been revealed, but one item has been teased, and it sounds delicious.
McDonald’s Goes Post-Apocalyptic
It was recently revealed that McDonald’s is preparing a feast of promotional efforts tied to XBOX franchises. The McDonald’s app will serve as the staging ground for a stack of freebies covering some of XBOX’s most iconic titles, including:
- Halo: Campaign Evolved — Master Chief Armour
- Forza Horizon 6 — Car Voucher
- Fallout 76 — Sugar Bomb Bundle
- Candy Crush Saga — Booster Bundle
- World of Warcraft — Red Hot Portable Bakery
- Overwatch — Kiriko Donut Break Emote
In a statement, Tim Kenward, Chief Marketing Officer for McDonald’s UK and Ireland, gave away a nugget of information related to an upcoming menu change:
Gaming is all about imagination and the worlds we love to get lost in.
What excites me about this partnership is that we’re bringing parts of these iconic gaming worlds to life, giving fans the chance to experience food they have only ever seen on screen. As a huge Fallout fan, I’m most excited for the Blamco Cheesy Potato Bites.
This is all part of the McDonald’s Side Missions promotional run, which isn’t by any means a new thing, but the XBOX collaboration is.
We also don’t know exactly when the menu changes will take place, but XBOX has a firm slate lined up around Gamescom, so expect the additions and alterations to land soon.
