Star Citizen Live Stream Goes Wrong as Devs Look Uncomfortable Playing It

Star Citizen recently hosted a dev stream that had a bunch of hiccups, with gameplay, developer interactions, and more, eventually leading them to end the stream.

The developers of Star Citizen have raised over $1 billion in crowdfunding since the game’s announcement 14 years ago. Despite this significant amount of funding and the lengthy development period, the game remains in a rough state. Recently, the developers attempted to showcase the intended experience, but the presentation did not go as planned.

Star Citizen Dev Stream Struggled with Bugs and Awkward Moments

As reported by IGN, Star Citizen recently held a developer stream that was plagued by numerous bugs and issues. The development team struggled with various aspects of the game, including weapons and inventory management. The frequent occurrence of these bugs created a tense atmosphere among the developers, leading to passive-aggressive interactions during the stream. Ultimately, the team decided to cancel the entire stream before they could finish the mission they were supposed to showcase.

This stream surprised the community, as players expected a stable experience under such ideal conditions, since it was meant to show how the game is supposed to work. However, that was not the case at all. Instead, they encountered the same issues that players had been experiencing. Comments such as “The whole team looks so unmotivated and uncomfortable. Bro, what is this lmao” and “Incredibly awkward, cringe, forced, slightly sinister feeling at times, and the local server gameplay was still terrible. No one was having fun here. Felt like a hostage video,” and more appeared under the video.

The closing comments didn’t sit well with players either, with Jared Huckaby, the content director at Cloud Imperium stating, “super proud of what these guys are doing here. And it’s helped us get this out, so that you can have the same experience we had today.” From the current state of the game, it doesn’t seem like a full release is around the corner.
