Marvel’s Wolverine Sells 2.4 Million Units In First 50 Days

Sales figures for Marvel’s Wolverine have been revealed, and when compared to Insomniac’s previous work on the Spider-Man franchise, the results aren’t quite as impressive.

Marvel’s Wolverine has sold 2.4 million units worldwide in its first 50 days, with the title remaining exclusive to the PlayStation 5 ecosystem. Following a somewhat underwhelming critical reception, including Insider Gaming’s own 7/10 review, Sony will likely be hoping that sales continue to pick up over the coming months.

Is Wolverine A Flop For Sony?

The sales data comes directly from Sony, which published its latest financial results on Thursday, November 5. The report provided updated lifetime sales figures for more than 20 first-party titles, with Marvel’s Wolverine being one of the more notable releases included.

Insomniac‘s latest superhero adventure has sold 2.4 million copies in its first 50 days on the market. One analytics firm previously predicted that the game had sold 1.9 million copies during its opening week. If that estimate is accurate, Wolverine has only managed to shift another 500,000 units since then.

Despite the relatively modest figures, Wolverine still managed to become the best-selling game of September 2026, outperforming the likes of EA FC 27 and Wardogs. The game’s reception among fans has also been considerably more positive, with players rating it 97/100 post-launch, a stark contrast to its mixed critical reviews.

However, the sales figures are certainly worth keeping an eye on, particularly when compared to the enormous success of Insomniac’s Spider-Man franchise. For context, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 sold 5 million copies in just 10 days following its launch. While that title was the third entry in the franchise, including Miles Morales, the level of anticipation surrounding the web-slinging hero was undoubtedly difficult to match.

With Marvel’s Wolverine reportedly carrying a $300 million development budget, Insomniac will need the game to continue selling if it hopes to recoup its investment. While 2.4 million units is by no means an insignificant figure, the game’s performance so far raises questions about whether it can reach the same heights as its predecessor.

Thankfully, Marvel’s Wolverine is currently included in PlayStation’s Black Friday sale, meaning you can pick it up at a reduced price. If you’ve been hesitant about jumping into Insomniac’s latest adventure, now might be the perfect time to give it a try.
