There’s almost no better time to do your gaming shopping than Black Friday, with discounts across the board at some of the biggest retailers. However, PlayStation has jumped the gun and kicked off its Black Friday sale early, with hundreds of games already reduced in price.
In fact, a quick glance at the PlayStation Store reveals that more than 2,000 games are included in the promotion, giving you plenty to sift through. Don’t worry, though, as we’ve done much of the hard work for you and rounded up a selection of games you won’t want to miss while they’re on sale.
8 Great Deals You Can’t Miss During PlayStation’s Black Friday Sale
Hundreds of games and DLCs are included in PlayStation’s Black Friday sale, ranging from recent AAA releases to hidden indie gems. Your wallet probably isn’t endless, though, so we’ve put together eight great deals worth considering, including their discounted prices.
Marvel’s Wolverine Digital Deluxe Edition
| Sale Price | Original Price | Percentage Off |
|---|---|---|
| $59.99 | $79.99 | -25% |
I’m kicking things off with a game that didn’t quite receive the critical acclaim many had hoped for. That isn’t to say it was a bad game by any means, but there’s no denying that Marvel’s Wolverine had its fair share of controversies, with some critics taking issue with its hand-holding level design and overall length.
However, once the game was released to the general public, it seemed that many had a much better time with it than the initial reviews suggested. So, if those early criticisms put you off picking up the game at launch, perhaps this reduced price is enough to tempt you into giving Wolverine a chance for yourself.
007 First Light Deluxe Edition
| Sale Price | Original Price | Percentage Off |
|---|---|---|
| $39.99 | $79.99 | -50% |
This one is a much safer bet, and it’s my personal Game of the Year so far, if that counts for anything! At half price, you can get your hands on 007 First Light, making this a fantastic opportunity to jump into the latest James Bond adventure, especially with free DLC now available.
Offering a brilliant fusion of Hitman’s stealth mechanics and level design with Uncharted’s chaotic action and cinematic set pieces, 007 First Light is both an excellent adventure and a fantastic return to form for Bond games as a whole. If you’ve been waiting for the right time to pick it up, this is a deal worth considering.
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach
| Sale Price | Original Price | Percentage Off |
|---|---|---|
| $39.89 | $69.99 | -43% |
If you’re looking for a game that’ll keep you occupied for dozens of hours, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is a fantastic option. Hideo Kojima’s latest adventure takes everything that made the original such a unique experience and builds upon it, offering a much more refined gameplay loop alongside an incredibly cinematic story.
While the first game wasn’t for everyone, its sequel is considerably more accessible, with improved combat, a wider range of tools, and plenty of ways to approach each delivery. Of course, the bizarre storytelling is still very much present, but that’s part of the charm.
Astro Bot
| Sale Price | Original Price | Percentage Off |
|---|---|---|
| $39.59 | $59.99 | -34% |
Astro Bot is one of those games that reminds you exactly why you fell in love with gaming in the first place. Team Asobi’s platformer is an incredibly charming adventure, packed with creative levels, inventive mechanics, and countless references to PlayStation’s history.
Whether you’re a long-time PlayStation enthusiast or simply looking for something fun to play, Astro Bot is an easy recommendation. Each level introduces something new, ensuring that the experience rarely feels repetitive, while the game’s secrets give you plenty of reasons to explore every corner.
God of War Ragnarok
| Sale Price | Original Price | Percentage Off |
|---|---|---|
| $29.39 | $69.99 | -58% |
God of War Ragnarok is another PlayStation exclusive that deserves a place on your wishlist, particularly if you’ve yet to experience Kratos and Atreus’ journey through Norse mythology. Following the events of the 2018 reboot—which is also 50% off during the sale— Ragnarok delivers an emotionally charged adventure with some of the best combat the franchise has ever seen.
The game offers a brilliant balance between cinematic storytelling, exploration, and brutal action, making it an excellent choice if you’re looking for a blockbuster experience. There’s also a substantial amount of content to get through, with plenty of optional quests and challenges to keep you occupied long after the main story concludes.
Silent Hill 2
| Sale Price | Original Price | Percentage Off |
|---|---|---|
| $19.59 | $69.99 | -72% |
If you’re a fan of horror games, Silent Hill 2 is one of the best deals available during PlayStation’s Black Friday sale. Bloober Team’s remake of the iconic psychological horror game manages to capture the atmosphere of the original while bringing its visuals and gameplay up to modern standards.
It’s certainly not a game for the faint of heart, but if you’re looking for something that’ll genuinely get under your skin, Silent Hill 2 is well worth your time. With a massive 72% discount, it’s also one of the most affordable major releases included in the sale.
Nioh 3 Digital Deluxe Edition
| Sale Price | Original Price | Percentage Off |
|---|---|---|
| $59.39 | $109.99 | -46% |
It’s hard to remember that Nioh 3 came out earlier this year, but if you’re a fan of challenging action RPGs, this is a game that should be firmly on your radar. Team Ninja’s latest entry takes the franchise’s signature combat and introduces a more expansive world, alongside the ability to switch between Samurai and Ninja fighting styles.
There’s a considerable amount to master here, with brutal enemies, demanding boss encounters, and a progression system that rewards you for experimenting with different builds. It’s certainly not the easiest game to jump into, but if you enjoy overcoming difficult challenges, there’s a lot to love.
Disco Elysium – The Final Cut
| Sale Price | Original Price | Percentage Off |
|---|---|---|
| $9.99 | $39.99 | -75% |
Finally, if you’re looking for something a little different, Disco Elysium: The Final Cut is an absolute steal during PlayStation’s Black Friday sale. This critically acclaimed RPG puts you in the shoes of a troubled detective tasked with solving a murder, although how you go about doing that is entirely up to you.
Unlike traditional RPGs, Disco Elysium places a huge emphasis on dialogue, decision-making, and character development, with your choices having a substantial impact on how the story unfolds. It’s an incredibly well-written experience, with plenty of humour, political commentary, and philosophical moments throughout.
