Now that Marvel’s Wolverine has launched, PlayStation Store user ratings are pouring in and clashing with the review scores.
Marvel’s Wolverine did not have a strong pre-launch period, as many critics rated the game unfavorably. Currently, it holds a Metascore of 77 based on 117 critic reviews. However, the game has received positive ratings on the PlayStation Store, resulting in a score that doesn’t match the game’s pre-launch reception.
Wolverine’s User Ratings Conflict with Review Scores
Spotted by Forbes, if you head to the PlayStation Store and check out the Marvel’s Wolverine page, you will see that the game sits at a user rating of 4.84 stars with 6,400 reviews at the time of writing. This means a vast majority of the players have given the game 5/5 stars. Scaled to a 100-point scale, that jumps to 96.8 or 97/100, which is much higher than the 77/100 Metascore the game received.
However, players should note that these are still early hours on the first day of release; the scores are subject to change as time goes on. The players are able to leave a rating after the purchase, they don’t have to complete the game to provide a score.

It’s intentional. They buy it just to review it because of the many controversies, and also because they are huge fans of Sony thus they will defend their corporation
I’ve seen plenty of mixed and negative reviews out there alongside the praise, and while everyone is entitled to their perspective based on what they want from a game, my experience has hit on a completely different frequency.
I’m still early in the journey—just cleared the first major boss battle—and I was honestly surprised by how deeply emotional this game made me feel. For me, the mutant struggle in the X-Men universe has always mirrored real-world marginalization and the lived Black experience: an entire group targeted, feared, and brutalized simply for existing. Stepping into Logan’s boots in this world made that connection raw and immediate. His rage wasn’t just video game combat to me; it felt personal. Every strike and counter felt like an outlet for the generational anger, pain, and exhaustion carried by people who have had to endure systemic hatred and violence.
I don’t care about flashy combos or sandbox variety just for the sake of it. I want visceral, unapologetic justice for what was done to him and his people. The game doesn’t shy away from being brutal, mature, and unapologetic, and it shouldn’t—because the hatred mutants face isn’t sanitized, either. Logan carries the weight of Team X and the X-Men on his shoulders, fighting through trauma while refusing to be broken.
Critics can argue over mechanics or pacing, but for me, this game offers something far rarer: an uncompromising narrative where you get to channel real-world pain into righteous resistance. It’s cathartic, empowering, and easily one of the most resonant gaming experiences I’ve had in years.
So in other words, on the Playstation store that Playstation fully controls the big, exclusive game that Playstation needs to be a success after all their PR screw ups is getting great reviews. Wow, what a shock.
Every post/article I see about Wolverine is saying that the reviews are unkind but on metacritic, 74% are positive and 0% are negative.
It seems that the chuds that WANT to hate it are pointing to the 26% and saying “SEE, I TOLD YOU IT’S GARBAGE”
It’s rather embarrassing.
100% this
It doesn’t look like a bad game. I’m just too old for comic book games.
