New sales data confirms that Marvel’s Wolverine topped the charts as the best-selling game for the month of September 2026 in the United States.
Marvel’s Wolverine is the latest installment from Insomniac Games, featuring a brand new hero instead of the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. The game faced some criticism at launch, as players were unhappy with the overly guided gameplay, and it received mixed reviews from critics. Despite these challenges, Wolverine managed to secure the top position in sales for last month.
Marvel’s Wolverine Beats All September Releases
Mat Piscatella’s latest post on BlueSky informs players about the sales data for the top 10 best-selling games in the US for the period between August 30, 2026, and October 3, 2026, and Marvel’s Wolverine was on top. The previous first position was held by NBA 2K27, which has now dropped to second. Madden NFL 27 previously held the second position, but has now dropped all the way to the 10th position.
Moreover, Marvel’s Wolverine was also the 11th best-selling game overall for 2026 year-to-date. It generated the “highest launch month full game dollar sales for a Sony-published title since February 2024,” when Helldivers 2 was released.
