S-Game has finally put to bed any doubts about Phantom Blade Zero only going down the digital route. A full physical disc release is coming, and while we don’t have the full release date, something is better than nothing!
Is this game getting a physical disc? Is that game getting a physical release? This kind of question didn’t exist a couple of years ago, but the industry’s gradual shift toward digital seems to have accelerated. With Sony’s vision on discs clear, it felt like Phantom Blade Zero might be following suit.
Phantom Blade Zero Going Physical in 2027

You won’t be able to get Phantom Blade Zero on disc once we hit the October 29 release date. It is only digital at launch, which means you’ll need to buy it from the PlayStation Store or on Steam to begin with.

However, the ‘Phantom Blade Zero – Official Launch Trailer’ not only showed off some incredible gameplay and the action title’s emotive gameplay, but the video finished up by confirming: ‘PS5 Physical Edition Coming in 2027.’
When in 2027, we do not know. It could be at the beginning of the year, or it could be a year from now. The conversation surrounding Sony and PlayStation abandoning discs won’t end, so this is a nice change of pace.
With a recent XBOX job listing suggesting its discs aren’t going anywhere, it feels like we’ll still be asking the ‘disc question’ for every new release for a while yet.
