First Nintendo Switch 2 Jailbreak Exploit Discovered

The jailbreak spree continues as someone has managed to infiltrate the Nintendo Switch 2, and while it’s expected to be patched out fairly quickly by Nintendo, it could be the beginning of new possibilities.

In the blink of an eye, two of the biggest home consoles in the world, which have been ironclad until now, have been subjected to jailbreaks. The PS5 seems to have been properly jailbroken, whereas a Nintendo Switch 2 jailbreak has become known.

Switch 2 Jailbreak is Real…For Now

X user @pepsipu has revealed a Nintendo Switch 2 jailbreak that can mod characters from other franchises into Mario Kart World, including Cinnamoroll, Peter Griffin, and Hatsune Miku.

The user even has an in-depth blog explaining the process, which we won’t advertise, but here’s what they said:

‘ns2jb is a software-only, tethered jailbreak for the Switch 2. It allows running arbitrary native code as any ordinary sysmodule, and as the built-in fs sysmodule. This lets us run homebrew, reverse engineer and mod Switch 2 games, back up save files off the Switch, and access most of the Switch 2’s peripherals through MMIO. To my knowledge, it’s the first such exploit for the Switch 2.’

Now, this isn’t on the scale of the 2026 PS5 jailbreak developments, which allow users to download and play pretty much any game on a PlayStation 5, from AAA exclusives to titles from older generations and platforms.

It’s extremely limited for now, and you can better believe that once Nintendo gets wind of this, if it hasn’t already, the dev team will readying an update preventing any further jailbreaks. On the other hand, Sony has been trying to do this with the PS5 to no avail, as updated jailbreak patches are circumventing new firmware updates.

This might only be non-Mario Kart World characters racing right now, but if more exploits are found, it might not be long before you can fully jailbreak a Nintendo Switch 2.

Do you think the Nintendo Switch 2 could eventually be cracked properly? Let us know your thoughts on the Insider Gaming Discord server.
