A new hotfix for Marvel’s Wolverine addresses a widely discussed issue related to the game’s scent trail feature during its first week.
Marvel’s Wolverine was launched on September 15 and has received mixed reviews. Many players have criticized the overly prominent scent trail, jokingly calling it Wolverine sniffing Jean Grey’s farts. This problem has now been addressed in one of the first patch updates since the game’s release.
Marvel’s Wolverine Update Makes Scent Trails Less Intense

Insomniac’s official update notes that, in addition to general crash fixes, it adjusts the presentation of scent trails and audio indicators, including reducing the scent trail’s opacity, to improve visuals.
Furthermore, Insomniac says that it will continue to evaluate ways to further improve the Senses present throughout the game. These improvements may include future options to toggle certain settings on and off to your liking.
We have deployed a new hotfix (v1.001.005) for Marvel’s Wolverine.
This hotfix addresses some common crashes experienced by a small percentage of players since launch.
Additionally, this hotfix adjusts the presentation of the Scent Trails and Audio Sense indicators, including reduced opacity to make these visuals less intense.
Our team continues to evaluate ways to further improve Senses in the game, including exploring toggleable options for a future update.
Still, many of the problems players are discussing online about Wolverine center around the game “playing itself.” That is, players feel they don’t need to interact with the game much to complete objectives. Players have shared videos of Wolverine making his way to a checkpoint on a motorcycle without players even needing to hold the controller.
Despite the complaints, Wolverine has reportedly sold over a million copies. Learn more about that here.
