Lyrical Games Publisher Announced, Features Emphasis on “Exceptional Games”

2025 welcomes a fresh publisher to the scene: say hello to Lyrical Games. The new publisher is not focused on “chasing quarterly earnings,” and the company—containing talent from Humble Games, Devolver Digital, and Private Division—wants to publish the best of the best new titles.

The video game world is a tough one. Layoffs are happening all the time, many studios are having to crunch as much as ever to get games out to help financial earnings reports, and cancellations can happen out of the blue. Lyrical Games is looking to defy any adversity with its strong lineup of staff, and wants to bring more on to help find and publish “exceptional games.”

Lyrical Games Features People From Devolver Digital & Private Division

An August 4 X post introduced Lyrical Games to the world for the first time.

It explained: “Everyone who cares about games, from the people who make them to the people who play them, has been affected by an increasingly risk-averse industry.”

The statement goes on to say Lyrical Games is: “A founding team of key people from Private Division, Humble Games, and Devolver Digital, we are already working with multiple studios and will be signing more soon.”

The now-defunct Private Division was responsible for publishing Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, The Outer Worlds, Kerbal Space Program, and 2025’s Tales of the Shire. Humble Games has Slay the Spire and Temtem on its resume. Whereas Devolver Digital’s portfolio is a who’s who of indie and AA games: Hotline Miami, Enter The Gungeon, Fall Guys, Cult of the Lamb, and so many more.

Having employees from these companies should put Lyrical Games in great standing. The X statement finishes by saying Lyrical Games is “Not building a live-service, billion-dollar empire. We are not chasing quarterly earnings. We back exceptional games.”

Can its level of talent help Lyrical Games succeed in a tough market? Or do you think this is unwise? Please let us know all your thoughts through the Insider Gaming forum.
