Xbox Changed Achievements, Now PlayStation Could be Changing Trophies

A new survey reveals that Sony users may be in for some tweaks to PlayStation Trophies. The virtual collecting feature has been a staple of PlayStation gaming for years, and this could be a response to recent Xbox Achievement updates.

Many PlayStation users might have noticed an in-game message asking you about PlayStation Trophies. If you interacted with this message as I did, you have likely been sent a survey about PS Trophies, which could be a sign of things to come.

Sony PlayStation Survey Enquires About Your Trophies Experience

There I was, playing Saros, and cleaning up the remaining Trophies en route to another hard-earned Platinum, when a notification popped up asking me: ‘How satisfied are you with trophies?’

I won’t reveal my response, but the answer did result in me receiving an email about a PS Trophies survey.

It includes a lot of ‘Agree’ and ‘Disagree’ boxes, and more open-ended boxes to key questions: ‘How can we improve the Trophies experience on PlayStation?’

The survey is only one page, but it’s clearly a signal of intent from Sony and PlayStation. If you’ve ever had complaints about the Trophies system or the framework, this might be the biggest chance you’ll ever have to have your say about how it works and improvements that could be made.

Want more rewards? Then say so. Want a bigger emphasis on how your PlayStation Trophies are displayed? Make sure you get access to the survey and let it be known.

Again, Xbox has just undergone one of its biggest Xbox Achievement updates in years in May 2026. It targets long-time requests, such as new notification symbols, hiding games from their profile, and aesthetic flourishes to make certain games stand out.

What is the biggest change you want to see iomplemented fore PlayStation Trophies moving forward? Is there something Sony has overlooked for years? Share your ideas with our audience through the Insider Gaming Discord.

  • Just my opinion, but one of the things I like most about my PS5 is that I could turn off the trophies in-games pop-ups. Haven’t missed it one iota. I just want to play the game I bought – to paraphrase, I don’t need no stinkin’ trophies!! 🏆

    • I enjoy getting trophies for games i already want to play, it gives me a reason to replay them especially since sony exclusives half the time are one and done great stories but need more gameplay so i welcome all the trophies.

    • you are missing the point tho. they are there for completionists and true gamers who want to explore everything a game has to offer. there are communities that thrive on seeing difficult games fully finished

it’s attitudes like yours and ppl who are anti trophies or ppl who want thousands of easy cheap trophies that have ruined the prestigiousness of getting extremely challenging trophies

  • As a trophy hunter myself. I would like to see some sort of benefit such as a reward point system. You earn points that can be used to turn into playstation credits for the PlayStation store. I believe this sort of system will keep players engaged with playstation and to rewards those who choose to use playstation as part of there lively hood for everyday gaming. given how Sony has upset alot of consumers regarding pricing and privacy policy updates this system will be giving somthing back to those who are royal to the Industry and are just die hard trophy hunters. 🏆 just an opinion.

    • Right?! I have over 4,000 trophies and 23 of them are platinums 🔥 I would love to see where this goes 🤗

    • I hate plat trophies being locked behind multiplayer on mostly single player games other than that no issues.

  • As an avid trophy hunter (975 platinums and counting) I’m surprised I haven’t gotten this survey yet…

    • Lol absolutely crazy. Im a trophy hunter too and this article is the first ive heard of it. I bet they only asking people who dont care about it all

    • I have over 200 Platinums and over 16,000 Trophies. I can assure you, they’re asking everyone. 😉

  • it would be greatly appreciated if we could sort the trophy list order back to “date earned” instead of just “recently earned”. back in the ps3 days your trophy list automatically ordered itself based on date earned, when they moved to ps4 they made the change away from that.

    BRING BACK CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER

  • I would like to be able to delete trophies for games that I haven’t enjoyed or games that I just couldn’t be bothered with. I have a few games with 1 or 2% that I just didn’t like and now stuck with on my list. I’m quite happy to loose some trophies for making my list look tidy

  • Don’t like trophy pop ups, especially over written dialogue. Wait what did she say? Sorry your trophy message is more important than the actual game your spending hours on. Ruined that scene. Trophies can help you get better at games. Trophy stats show typically 10% may finish a game, and less than 1% may 100% a game. Trophy rewards are dire too. Who came out first with the trophy/achievements; Xbox or Sony? And what was the reasoning?

    • I don’t get it. I had this notification for around a year. Did the survey twice (second time just for fun). And now I read it’s related to recent Xbox behavior? 🤦

  • 1. Let us delete or fully hide unwanted trophy lists

If you unlock even one trophy, that game is stuck on your profile forever. This is frustrating for games you refunded, disliked, barely played, or only tested.

    2. Make game lists more consistent

Some games appear differently depending on whether you’re viewing your trophy list or your public profile.

For example, BioShock 1 & 2 Remasters appear as separate games in the trophy list, but are grouped together or displayed differently on a public profile. The same kind of issue can happen with collections, remasters, trilogies, demos, and betas. Game names, icons, and trophy lists should be displayed consistently across PS5, the PS App, and public profiles. Xbox 360 nailed this decades ago.

    3. Add a platinum or 100% completed games filter

    4. Let us feature favourite completions

It would be great to choose a few favourite platinums or 100% completions to show near the top of your profile. Steam has profile showcases, and PlayStation could do something similar for trophies. It would let players show off the games they’re most proud of.

    5. Add a small reward for 100% completion

Sony could reward players with something small, like a profile badge or avatar. Xbox 360 used to do this via Awards. Just a nice extra things for finishing everything.

    6. Fix badly cropped game icons

Small nit pick but I noticed some game icons are cropped poorly in the PlayStation App and appear too large.

  • I feel if you put discounts for getting a percentage of Said (Trophies) in PS5 like the Stars System, which was awesome, IMO.
Ppl would be more inclined to get Trophies & will improve your base time of players’ activity on Hours played.

So yea, put a discount to games with Achieving Trophies 🏆 that will bring more players to stay online and gives the grind a reasonable reason to stay on this games.

  • I don’t get it. I had this notification for around a year. Did the survey twice (second time just for fun). And now I read it’s related to recent Xbox behavior? 🤔

Sorry for second comment. Somehow the first one is displayed as reply to a different content while it shouldn’t.

    • I don’t care about trophies or achievements I think it very stupid never going to complete ever one of them for every game because games always have updates like GTA 5 it’s just a way for Xbox and Sony to get you to buy their over price games

  • I’ve been saying the same for years, I wish they would but I honestly don’t think they can, so I was told years ago, only the 0% ones. Maybe one day however

  • I agreed with some comment posted up there we need to be able to delete trophies on games that are too hard to finish like “returnal ” and so many more…

  • It would be good if Sony decided, collect a certain amount of platinum trophies and exchange them for a month of ps plus on the ps store. Would make trophies less pointless then.
