New Kingdom Come & LOTR Middle-Earth Games Announced By Warhorse Studios

Warhorse Studios has officially unveiled the next two projects on its slate, confirming that both a new Kingdom Come title and an open-world Lord of the Rings RPG set in Middle-earth are currently in development.

While rumors of a Warhorse-developed LOTR game had been circulating for months, this marks the first official confirmation directly from the studio. Naturally, the announcement has already sparked plenty of excitement, especially given Warhorse’s reputation for crafting immersive RPG experiences.

Warhorse Studios Confirms Two Massive New Projects

The reveal came via Warhorse Studios’ official X account, though details remain incredibly limited for now. No release windows, gameplay footage, or story information were shared alongside the announcement, leaving fans with plenty of questions about what’s next for the studio.

Interestingly, the upcoming Kingdom Come project was described only as a “new adventure,” rather than explicitly being labelled another RPG. That wording has already led to speculation that Warhorse could potentially experiment with a different genre while remaining within the Kingdom Come universe. At this stage, though, that’s purely speculation, and probably unlikely.

Of course, the biggest talking point is undoubtedly the newly announced Lord of the Rings RPG. A Middle-earth adventure feels like a natural fit for Warhorse Studios, especially after the grounded and immersive world-building seen in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

Exactly where the game fits within Tolkien’s timeline remains unknown, but the prospect of a large-scale open-world RPG set in Middle-earth is already enough to capture plenty of attention.

It’s likely both projects are still years away from release. After all, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Insider Gaming’s pick for Best RPG of 2025, only launched last year, and ambitious projects of this scale take time to develop. Still, simply knowing that a brand-new Middle-earth RPG is officially on the horizon is more than enough reason for fans to start getting excited.
