Forza Horizon 6 Mocks Nintendo’s Legal Stance with Pokémon

Forza Horizon 6 has made a reference to Pokémon while making fun of Nintendo’s legal reputation surrounding the franchise.

Playground Games’ latest title, Forza Horizon 6, finally takes players to one of its longest-requested locations: Japan. One of the biggest franchises to come out of the country is Pokémon, so paying homage to it is always a good idea. However, the developers have done so while taking a jab at Nintendo and its frequent legal battles surrounding the franchise.

Forza Horizon 6 Ask Players to ‘Snap ‘Em All’ Without Explictly Mentioning Pokémon

Spotted by wxrry on X (formerly Twitter) via GamesRadar+, Forza Horizon 6 playfully references Pokémon during one of its in-game moments. One of the in-game radio hosts states that whether players are visiting the midnight cityscapes of Japan, or exploring its scenic mountain sights, players should ‘snap ’em all.’ Right after that statement, the host states, “it’s like that Japanese collecting game we’re not allowed to name for legal reasons.”

Nintendo is notorious for bringing out its legal team whenever there is even a mention of Pokémon or any of its other franchises. Case in point is their long-running legal battle with Pocketpair’s Palworld, which has even led the Switch maker to file for new patents, some of which have been rejected. At the same time, Pokémon is one of the biggest media franchises in the world, so it’s pretty justified that Nintendo will do everything it can to protect it.

In other news, Nintendo has announced it will be present at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne for all four days in August. Additionally, Pokémon Champions producer Masaaki Hoshino has confirmed new Pokémon will be added every three months and teased the addition of legendaries.
