The League of Legends EMEA Esports World Cup Qualifiers continued this week and led to some pretty interesting matches.
Both tier-two ERL teams were still in the tournament and looked to upset the status quo and the qualifiers have become even more important for the French LFL teams with the Esports World Cup moving to Paris.
And the Upper Bracket concluded with G2 Esports, Natus Vincere, Karmine Corp, and Movistar KOI looking to secure their place in the first qualifier match.
Here’s how the latest round of the EMEA LoL Esports World Cup Qualifiers played out.
Galions Keep EWC Dream Alive
The ERL teams continued to prove their quality in the Lower Bracket against LEC opposition.
EMEA Masters Champions Solary had impressed in the previous round after sweeping Fnatic.
Yet, they couldn’t get past GIANTX, despite the best efforts of star jungler Lanzo ‘Zicssi’ Ciajolo.
Twice, Zicssi went in alone with Pantheon ult and stole an objective, both Baron and Elder Drake, but it wasn’t enough for Solary to come back versus GIANTX.
Meanwhile, fellow LFL team Galions stomped Shifters 2-0 to continue progressing after sweeping SK Gaming 2-0 in the previous round.
ADC Franciszek HARPOON’ Gryszkiewicz had a particularly great series, finishing the first match 10/2/2 as Lucian.
Now Galions will look to make it three upsets in a row when they face NAVI next.
G2 and Karmine Corp Advance To First Qualifier Match
In the Upper Bracket, G2 Esports and Karmine Corp advanced to the first EWC qualifier after clean sweeps.
G2 dominated Natus Vincere, defeating them 2-0 to remain undefeated in the qualifiers.
NAVI had a good early start to the second game, with Yoon ‘Poby’ Sung-won solokilling Rasmus ‘Caps’ Winther in lane.
However, G2 then quickly fought back, and NAVI couldn’t find an answer to their intelligent teamfighting.
Meanwhile, Movistar KOI and KCorp had a rematch from their heated series during the LEC Madrid Roadtrip just a few days prior.
But this time it didn’t go to all three matches as KCorp took the clean 2-0 victory.
Much has been said about the impressive form of MKOI’s midlaner Joseph Joon ‘Jojopyun’ Pyun while KCorp’s mid Kang ‘kyeahoo’ Ye-hoo has been labelled as a possible weakpoint for the team.
However, Kyeahoo got the better of this match-up this time with a huge 8/0/7 game on Anivia in the second game.
KCorp ADC Caliste ‘Caliste’ Henry-Hennebert almost got his second penta against MKOI this week but had to settle for a quadra to close out the series.
G2 and KCorp will now play each other in a best-of-five to decide the first EMEA team to qualify for the Esports World Cup.

Meanwhile in the ERLs, NLC has released a statement apologising after frustrating the league’s former casters.
