Reburn, formerly known as 4A Games Ukraine, has quietly delayed La Quimera on the day of release amidst negative reviews slamming the studio’s debut title. I was able to get my hands on La Quimera and was disappointed with what Reburn had delivered, and I’m not alone – so much so that the running belief is that Reburn has knocked back La Quimera because of the feedback.
The team announced in a Discord server for the studio that La Quimera has been delayed with no new release date in sight, but the firm has yet to address that pushback on social media or via an official release.
Not Out The Gate
La Quimera has fallen short of expectations before even hitting the market. This all-new sci-fi shooter comes from the creative minds that helped piece together Metro, one of the best post-apocalyptic franchises in the business.
From the day it was revealed, La Quimera was pegged as an ambitious shooter with futuristic elements, intense gunplay, and intriguing co-op mechanics. It looked great on the surface, and the game’s story was written by Hollywood-level talent.
What was delivered was a total disappointment.
In my review for La Quimera, I wrote:
The visual effects (fire, etc) are sub-par, gunplay is cut-and-dry and unimpressive, the voice acting and animations are dated, and nothing engaged me from a story perspective. I simply didn’t care to become immersed in La Quimera, which has ultimately revealed itself as a relatively short shooter with uninspiring mechanics that won’t leave a lasting impression on me as a gamer.
As the review embargo for La Quimera lifted today, these thoughts are being shared far and wide. The PR firm managing the review copies of the game neglected to catch up with Reburn in time to perhaps put a hold on reviews, suggesting that this was a very last-minute decision by Reburn.
