In a new post on its website, Naughty Dog confirmed that the highly anticipated Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will not receive any updates in 2026. This pretty much puts an end to fans’ hopes of seeing a new trailer at The Game Awards 2026.
Updates for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet only in 2027
Neil Druckmann himself revealed the news. According to him, the team will remain silent for the rest of 2026 to give the game the best possible treatment. The director also stated that this is the most ambitious project in the studio’s history, and they intend to live up to expectations.
Another point to consider is the marketing “clash” that would occur if PlayStation were to release news about Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet with God of War: Laufey so close to launch. The last Intergalactic development update came almost a month ago, when Naughty Dog revealed that the cinematic shoot had been finalized.
Based on other Naughty Dog projects, finishing the cinematic shoot within this timeframe could make a 2027 launch possible, but we can’t say for sure since the studio hasn’t revealed anything about gameplay development. Now everything we can do is wait for new updates.
When the next Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet trailer will be shown?
Based on today’s post, the next trailer will likely debut at the first State of Play in 2027. In 2026, the event took place in February, so PlayStation may follow the same strategy. For now, we’ll have to wait for Sony’s official announcement.
