Hoo boy. This is one of those stories that you can’t touch without landing yourself in trouble somewhere. I’ll preface this by saying that I’m probably the most passionate fan of The Last of Us you’ll meet in a hot minute, but even that has been a concerning thing to say since The Last of Us Part 2 dropped in 2020.
When I lump the general topic of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet on top of that, you really get a recipe for destruction. However, Troy Baker, who you might know best as Joel Miller from The Last of Us, recently took to the stage at a convention to make some bold promises and predictions about Naughty Dog’s upcoming sci-fi epic.
Including a claim that the game’s lead, Jordan, is a spiritual successor to Ellie, one of the leads from The Last of Us.

Recently, Troy Baker attended Ottawa Comiccon, and while there, he took to the stage, microphone in hand, and gushed over Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, a game that he’s starring in. We don’t know when it’s coming out, and it has been a good, long while since we heard anything new about it, but he seems to think it’s shaping up extremely well.
The problem is, folks aren’t overly impressed with Intergalactic, and they haven’t been since it was first revealed with a trailer that was punctuated with bizarre and overt product placement.

It’s bad enough that Naughty Dog was on the back foot after the divisive release of The Last of Us Part 2 in 2020 that split the community down the middle. And then they canceled a Last of Us-themed multiplayer game. And then they ‘turned their backs’ on the third season of the HBO live-action adaptation of the same name.
Speaking in Canada, Baker said:
I’m excited to see Intergalactic. You guys are going to get your minds blown. You are not ready. It’s so good. We finally just wrapped.
Tati Gabrielle is… I don’t know how Neil found two amazing actors to be… He found Ashley for Ellie and he found Tati for Jordan. It’s like, what? How do you do that?
She is the spiritual successor.
He then went on to stress that, in Intergalactic, he feels all of Naughty Dog’s DNA:
I feel Uncharted, I feel The Last of Us, I feel something new. They’re testing the bounds of what that studio is capable of, and everything that I’ve seen, they are delivering, it’s going to be incredible.

Given the state of play with the game, it might not be too much longer before we hear more, and the expectation is that it’ll be released late next year at the earliest, but that’s mostly conjecture.
