EA Sports is making some changes to how physical contact is handled in NHL 27 with the game’s second update.
NHL 27 Title Update 2 goes live September 29 and includes a long list of gameplay fixes, stability improvements, and changes across Connected Franchise, World of Chel, Hockey Ultimate Team, and more.
The biggest gameplay change comes with Boarding and Charging penalties, with EA confirming that it has tuned how both calls are handled.
EA hasn’t provided specific details on exactly how the thresholds for those penalties have changed, so we’ll have to see how the adjustments play out once Update 2 goes live. Still, it’s one of the few changes in the update that directly impacts how NHL 27 plays on the ice.
For everything included in the update, check out our full NHL 27 patch notes, which we’ll continue updating as EA releases new updates.
NHL 27 Update 2 Includes Several Gameplay Fixes
The penalty changes aren’t the only gameplay adjustments coming with this latest NHL 27 title update. EA has fixed a possible desync in online gameplay following a penalty sequence in World of Chel. There’s also a fix for an issue that could cause a player’s arm or hand to twitch after releasing a pass while glide skating.
Hockey Ultimate Team is also getting a fix for a rare desync that could happen following a missed penalty shot in Wildcard, while AFK mode in Ones has received a logic fix.
Beyond those changes, much of Update 2 is focused on improving stability and fixing bugs that have popped up across NHL 27’s different modes.
Connected Franchise and HUT Get a Long List of Fixes
Connected Franchise is also receiving several stability improvements, including fixes for occasional crashes, issues with the Commissioner Tools and problems involving league invitations.
EA has also fixed issues with Goals Against stats, Fill Lines placing players in the wrong positions, custom roster jersey assignments, and Player of the Game animations.
Elsewhere, Hockey Ultimate Team has an even longer list of fixes covering Coaches, Strategies and Playbooks, the Auction House, Sets, line management, Objectives, Wildcard, Cup Chase and the Store. And World of Chel is also getting fixes for occasional crashes, including issues that could occur during EASHL Clubs matches and Club Practice.
NHL 27 Update 2 Adds New Center-Ice Designs
The update isn’t entirely about bug fixes, either.
With the start of the seasons upon us in the NHL and other leagues, EA is adding updated center-ice designs for several NHL teams, including the Buffalo Sabres, Anaheim Ducks, Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, and Minnesota Wild, among others.
Several AHL, ECHL, OHL, QMJHL and WHL teams are also receiving updated center-ice designs.
For the complete breakdown, check out our NHL 27 patch notes, which has the full history of updates and will be updated whenever a new patch is released.
