Just over a month after Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2’s release, developers at Cold Iron Studios have been hit by layoffs. The news came in an announcement late last week by parent company Enad Global 7.
Insider Gaming understands that at least 19 people have been let go in this round of job cuts. Based on public records, Cold Iron had roughly 50-70 employees before the layoffs.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 Development Will Continue
In their post on the matter, Enad Global 7 said the staff reduction “follows the original plan that is intended to reduce the studio’s operating cost base and secure a sustainable operation going forward.”
They continued to say that Cold Iron Studios will “remain focused on the continued development and support of Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, including the Nintendo Switch 2 release that is now scheduled for early 2027.”
As of September 28, over 11,000 people have lost their jobs in the games industry in 2026. These layoffs have impacted 144 different companies, with at least 32 studios closing their doors.
