A new Project Zomboid mod lets players play in first-person, completely transforming the game.
How to Play Project Zomboid in First Person
The new mod, which is in early development, allows you to play the game in first-person, and while it will still have some of its issues, you can download and play the mod here.
You can find gameplay footage of the Project Zomboid first-person mod, called PZ3D, below, which has started to go viral since the mod was posted on September 24.
The mod is described as “Very early WORK IN PROGRESS”.

Project Zomboid in first=person is currently single-player only, so unfortuntely, you won’t be able to play with friends.
Project Zomboid was first released in November 2013 and has become one of the best-selling zombie games on Steam. As of this writing, the game has 159,000 very positive player reviews and still sees around 70,000 peak concurrent players each day.
Will multiplayer be supported?
The developers have said that the plan eventually will be to support multiplayer in the first-person Project Zomboid mod, but as of the time of writing, it’s currently unclear as to when that will be implemented.
What is pz3d trying to achieve?
pz3d is a framework whose main goal is to bring the camera down from isometric view to the character and make all vanilla Project Zomboid mechanics work from that perspective. The framework handles the engine and gameplay integration, while the community can expand it with models.
Why do I need to also download ZombieBuddy?
pz3d needs to load Java code and modify engine behavior beyond what the standard modding tools allow. ZombieBuddy provides that access. Replacing it would require another mechanism with similar capabilities and associated risks.
Concerns about giving third-party code access to your computer are legitimate. You use this mod at your own risk, and installing it should be an informed decision. Official support for this kind of engine access would need to come from the game’s developers.
